On the occasion of 60 years for the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Israel, we will hold a special symposium joining scholars from Israel and abroad to reflect on the history of relations and discuss future attainments and opportunities.
We envision this event both as a milestone in the cultural and educational relations between Japan and Israel and as an intellectual project with a strong academic and theoretical value.
We expect that the issues discussed in thesymposium would have the potential to contribute to the discourse over wider analytical and theoretical questions regarding the relations between geopolitics, diplomacy and culture in regional and bilateral contexts.
The conference will be held in the Harry S. Truman Research Center for the Advancement of Peace and Beit Maiersdorf, at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem - May 7-9, 2012
